We had such a great time in Miami Beach this past month! We packed up a few suitcases and drove from Tampa Bay to South Beach and had so much fun we nearly extended our trip another week! This trip we stayed in an Airbnb so we could bring Ollie and also work part of the time. I shared some outfit snaps on Instagram stories and the highlights. I know many of you don’t always catch them since they expire within 24 hours but I’ve saved them to my MIAMI VACAY highlights and tagged all the places we ate and visited.
I’ll have an updated roundup of our favorite places to stay, eat, shop and relax. For today I have a highly requested roundup of what I packed and what I wore during our trip.
I packed a ton of sunscreen for the beach and for every day. My personal favorite for the body is the Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion with SPF 50+ because it’s the longest lasting, stays on the skin the best through sweat, water and heat, and it’s not thick or sticky. Andrew’s favorite is the Jack Black Oil-Free Sun Guard with SPF 45. For him this is the best sweat-resistant sunscreen.
For swimsuits I love Montce Swim and Hunza G for more conservative swim wear that covers a lot. Since we stayed at an Airbnb I packed my own towels from Business & Pleasure and I really love them. They have matching coolers and cooler totes too!
I didn’t get outfit snaps of everything I wore on the trip but I here’s what I did get photos of throughout our trip! Also linking what I packed for tops, dresses and bottoms.
I’m excited to share another handbag review/what’s in my bag post! I’ve been loving the Naghedi for a long time now and have added a few of the St. Barths Totes in the mini size to my collection.
Today I have a closer look at the Naghedi St. Barths Tote in the mini size in the color Cashmere which is one of the newer shades for fall. This one sold out quickly when it launched a few weeks ago and as soon as it restocked I ordered it immediately. I hope they will restock it again! For notifications you can sign up for their newsletter on their website.
These are made of handwoven neoprene which makes them flexible and lightweight. The mini comes with a small dust bag, removable strap and mini zip pouch.Dimensions of the mini are 6” deep, 14” wide and 7.5” tall.
The handle is big enough that you can wear it on the arm or hold it by hand. It’s not big enough for me to wear over the shoulder but that’s where the strap comes in handy.
There are quite a few solid color options (ecru, navy, olive, cashmere, slate, etc.) which retail for $240 each. They also have pretty plaid woven options which also retail for $240, some have a metallic material woven throughout (I think the sunkissed one is so pretty!). I also own one of the woven rope styles which is a little more expensive.
I like both the Mini and Medium. I think they’re versatile and great for a casual look whether you’re going to the beach, park, dog walks, running errands, etc.
Here’s a What’s In My Bag Reel if you want to see it in action:
And I can also fit a small water bottle inside too!
For the St. Barths style size wise they currently have these options (in both solid and plaid colors) and they all come with a matching flat zip pouch:
Mini – measures 6” deep x 14” wide x 7.5” tall (comes with a removeable strap)
Shopper – measures 7” deep x 14” wide x 15.5” tall
I’ve had a few of the medium sizes I wore all summer long and they’ve held up really well. The material is supposed to be easy to clean but I haven’t had any issues getting them smudged or dirty yet and haven’t had to do any cleaning yet. Here’s a quick repost of the Medium size I have in Cocoa.
What’s your go-to bag these days? I’ve been a mini bag lover for a long time now but love the versatility of larger ones. The mini in the St. Barths style is perfect for my 5’3” frame. Mini but large enough to hold plenty of things.
Shop the Post
You can find Naghedi bags at Naghedi NYC, Bloomingdale’s and Shopbop to name a few. I’ve ordered mine from all three of these places.
Doing a fun roundup today with a look at some of my favorite everyday off-shoulder and one-shoulder tops! I get so many questions about my tops from Instagram Stories I thought I’d do a roundup. I love the longer-sleeve options that are lightweight so they still have some movement. These are fun to wear especially during the holiday season. If you’re looking for some casual but chic options to wear for Thanksgiving hope this gives you some ideas!
Free People Fuji Thermal Off Shoulder Top
Free People Fuji Thermal Top ($49) – Love this medium weight waffle weave with a fitted look. Feels like a thick tee with minimal stretch. Also has a thumbhole cutout. This is the one I get the most questions about! It sells out quite frequently so you may have to shop around for your size/color. Also available at Revolve, Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Lulu’s.
Treasure and Bond Off the Shoulder Thermal Knit Top
The Off the Shoulder Thermal Knit Top ($49) has been a long-time favorite and I love the seasonal colors! In general Treasure and Bond runs on the larger size so I go for a size down. This one is a thin waffle weave. It is semi-sheer (not see through though). You can wear this off both shoulders, on the shoulders with a wider neckline or off one shoulder. Makeup breakdown in my Charlotte Tilbury roundup post.
____________
Treasure and Bond Off the Shoulder Thermal Knit Top
Treasure and Bond Ribbed One-Shoulder Pullover ($69) is one I bought recently that has a thicker weave. It’s warm and cozy but for me runs on the long side. I love the way it feels and the color but think it is just too long. I can tuck it in but am undecided at this point.
Linked all of my favorites plus a few other styles I’ve found that I have on my radar. Some cute styles also from Shopbop, Express, Line and Dot and more below.
It’s been a while since I’ve done a What’s In My Bag purse review! I’m still really loving minis and one of my favorites right now is the Celine Belt Bag in the Pico size. Long time readers might remember I used to own the Mini (which wasn’t really mini) when they had only 2 sizes. I was a huge fan of the Belt Bag in the Mini when I owned it. I loved it so much I bought it in two colors! I loved them while I owned them. When Celine came out with smaller options I felt they would be much better for my height and frame but it seemed redundant to own the same bag in multiple sizes. I sold them in one of my blog sales. They’ve since discontinued the largest size and now have it available in the Mini, Micro, Nano and Pico. You can find the size information, colors and pricing on the Celine website under their Belt Bag section.
I splurged on the Pico Belt Bag in the color Light Taupe for my birthday. I purchased it from the Celine store in the Miami Design District and was debating between the Pico or Nano size. At 5’3” it can sometimes be hard to find a good size mini bag that doesn’t overwhelm my height/frame. I love anything with a strap that I can wear crossbody too.
Reposting a photo of the Pico (in grey) vs Nano (in light taupe) from the Miami store in May. I think both sizes are super cute! They had some really fun colors when we were there last October but they were limited-edition and I’m a bit sad they’re no longer available!
The Belt Bag I have is made of grained calfskin. It has a magnetic closure, zipper, removable crossbody strap and a handle at the top. The Pico Size currently retails for $1,850 and measures 6 x 5 x 4 IN (15 x 13 x 9 CM). It fits my iPhone 11Pro with a lot of extra room to spare. There are no pockets inside, it’s one large open compartment.
I’ve only been using this one for a few weeks but love it. The magnetic closure was cumbersome to open and close in the larger size but I think it was because of the weight and size of the larger variation. The Pico (and even the Nano I tried) is still very secure with the zipper and magnetic closure but is easier to get things in and out of.
The bag fits quite a bit more than I thought it would! Since it has a single compartment without any pockets or separators I can fit in more than I do with the Tory Burch Perry Bombe Bag. Also because the shape isn’t round like the Chloe Mini Marcie I feel like I can fit more inside this Celine style.
A lot of you asked me how durable it is with color transfer. Since moving to Florida I have not worn dark colored denim as much, mainly because of the heat – so I have not had any issues with dark jeans transferring onto light colored bags. That being said I do remember wearing a lot of dark denim while living in San Diego and never had an issue with transfer on the bag I owned back then.
What I can fit inside below. I don’t always carry a lot but I find as the week progresses I usually accumulate a bit more and more items as each day goes on. I empty, clean out and rotate weekly.
Small wallet or card case (Gucci or Celine)
Hand Cream (Chanel)
Hand Sanitizer (Aesop)
Multiple lip products
Lip Balms (from Fresh)
Lip Pencils (swatches below)
iPhone
Sunglasses will fit without the case, although I rarely stick them in a bag without a case because they’ll get scratched
The Celine Coin and Card Pouch has one compartment. It’s a zippered style with a key ring attachment. There are no pockets inside. Also comes in a few other colors. Measures 5 x 4 inches.
The Gucci Leather Card Case Wallet is a classic style and super durable. Closed it measures 4.3” wide x 3.3” high x 1.2” deep. This particular style comes in a few patterns and material options. I love how compact and functional it is! I don’t carry a lot of cards with me so this is perfect for my drivers license and 3 cards (but you can fit a few more cards inside too). There’s a zippered compartment for coins and also room for bills.
I don’t know why I always end up packing in so many lip products but I am thrilled to hear from so many of you that you also tend to carry more than one lip product with you as well. My favorite gloss is the Pat McGrath LUST Gloss. I love so many of the colors, in particular Peach Perversion and Flesh Astral. Dior Nude Look 100 is my perfect everyday nude pink lip for the Lip Pencil and Rouge Dior lipstick. I also ordered the Rouge Forever Liquid Transfer-Proof Lipstick in Forever Nude 100 which is a nice nude rose pink with a matte finish. (I still prefer the lipstick formula.)
Hope you found this review helpful! You can find Celine at their boutiques and online at Celine.com. Also available in stores at select locations for Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Do you have a favorite mini bag right now? Or do you mainly carry larger totes?
Sandal season is here even though it feels like it’s always sandal season in Florida! I’ve rounded my current favorites from Tory Burch. I own a number of different brands and styles for flat sandals, but the ones from Tory Burch always end up being the ones I wear the most frequently.
I’m all about flats since they’re the most comfortable and casual for my taste. The Miller Sandal has been a classic favorite for so long, but I look forward to newer styles each season. I think this year they’ve made some of the best ones I’ve seen!
I do think these are quite the splurge but I’ve always been happy with the quality and versatility so I’ve found them worth the price.
The Miller Sandal ($198) is a classic I think great for any age or style. The ones I’ve worn the most are the classic black leather or vachetta leather. I am a true size 6.5 but in these I’ve worn both the 6.5 and 7 and these days I like the bigger size better. I’d recommend going up 1/2 a size. They come in a wide range of colors.
Miller Sandal Patent ($198) these are also really cute and I love the look. These have held up longer for me even in rain, but do note if your feet get wet they can get slippery. The ones I have right now are the Patent Tan. Runs the same sizing as the classic miller in regular leather and comes in a wide range of colors.
I was finally able to try Miller Cloud ($228) a few weeks ago! They’ve been sold out for quite a long time in a lot of the colors and sizes but just started to restock (you can pre-order on some sites). The Miller Cloud is a padded sandal described as lightweight and ergonomic with a molded footbed.
I found my usual size 6.5 ran a little big in store but ordered a 6 as soon as I saw it pop up. For me going down a half size worked perfectly. They run wider than the regular Millers but it still does hug the feet with the molded cushion and edge. The only downside is they do make a squishing noise when you walk (at least for me) but it’s not a deal breaker. I really like these!
Double T Sport Slide ($198) is what I wore pretty much our entire trip when we went to Miami in May. These are so comfortable and I 100% recommend them. There’s no break in period, sole has a cushion (although it is flat), and comfortable to wear even in the heat. I like that they’re not a flip flip style making it a little more dressy.
The Basket Weave Slide ($258) is another favorite. I picked these in white and think the weave is so pretty. My bestie messaged me that she got the same pair as well. These run true to size on me for an exact fit. They’re super flattering. Comfort wise I find they are comfortable, but not as comfortable as the Double T or APL Slides.
The Basket-Weave Espadrille ($228) is another style with the woven design. This has a large strap in the front and a leather string tie. They run true to size and I also love these. Wear is about the same as the slide version, the sole on this is slightly more comfortable (but still flat).
That wraps up my favorites summer sandals from Tory Burch right now! For me they were 100% worth the splurge. I will put together a part two with some more favorites from other brands. What are your favorite sandals to wear for the summer? Do you also wear flats or something with a heel?
Happy Friday! We made it through another week and I cannot believe it is almost Christmas time! I have a cozy slipper try-on haul roundup with my hits and misses. I tried several different styles and here are my thoughts on each style plus sizing. If you have any favorites I would LOVE it if shared your loves! It’s rarely cold enough to need slippers here in Florida although we’ve been through several years of cold seasons and my toes have been in need of something to keep them warm at home.
1 // Fuzzy Open-Toe Slippers
Women’s Cross Band Slippers Soft Plush Open Toe House Shoes from Amazon in New Camel and New Cream ($24.99 each) – I’m usually a 6.5 in most shoes, based on the reviews I ordered the 5-6 and it fits perfectly. I have narrow-ish feet and these fit me perfectly. They are a little snug but will loosen up a little with a couple of wears. Love that they’re breathable, soft, fluffy, anti-skid and have a nice foam cushion on the base.
Ugg Fluffette Slippers in Goat ($89.85) – These are fluffy and comfortable on my feet, but they’re not the softest. I ordered a 7 based on the reviews and agree that you should probably size up a size if you’re in between sizes. Compared to other ones I tried the Fluffettes aren’t as soft. I wish I had opted for their classic Scuffette II but Andrew said they looked hideous on my feet so I did not buy them.
Naked Cashmere Mule Slippers in Mink ($95) – I bought the S/M and they fit but are slightly big on me. These have the best cushiony sole out of all the ones I tried, but the front is semi-wide/loose. They don’t fall off my feet but I would have liked them a little more snug. The upside of them being a little loose on me is that my feet don’t get too hot or sweaty as air can circulate around the sides. Since they are cashmere you can’t machine wash these.
The ones I bought unfortunately have sold out, but you can still find them in the Love Mule Slipper style and Emory Mule Slipper. If you want a Bootie style they still have their Da Booties in stock.
Also wearing: Everlane Perform Legging in the Ankle Length (prefer the Lululemon Align or Alo Yoga 7/8 ones), side table from West Elm, tray from Nespresso, mug is Le Creuset, hot chocolate stirrer from Trader Joe’s
APL Shearling Slide in Pristine/Black ($150) – I’m the biggest fan of all things APL and when they launched their shearling slide I ordered them immediately. The Pristine/Black is my favorite of the colors I ordered and it’s still available in most sizes. I hope they restock the other colors. I wear their sneakers in a Size 7 (same size as I wear in Nike) and I wear the Slides in a 6 because I have narrow feet. They’re an exact fit for me although if they made sizes it would be even better. Andrew is a 12 or 12 for sneakers and wears the slides in a 12.
5 // Madewell Sherpa Scuff Slippers
Madewell Sherpa Scuff Slippers ($45) – These are still available right now at Zappos (I ordered mine from Madewell but they sold out there). These are probably my favorite out of the ones I bought. They’re basic but soft and cushiony. They do run wide but on me they’re comfortable and cozy. You can also find similar options in their Suede Scuff and Recycled Faux Fur Quilted (at Madewell, Shopbop and Nordstrom).
My favorites are the ones I ordered from Amazon and Madewell. The Uggs are my least favorite. I might exchange them for the Scuffette even though Andrew doesn’t approve of the look. I’ve bought him the men’s version before and he liked those on his feet lol.
I’m sure by now you’ve already found your favorite cozy at home slippers, but in case you’re looking for some new ones to try I hope you find this roundup helpful!
Hi everyone! It’s been a little quiet on the blog as we’ve been enjoying the summer! I know the summer season is close to an end but for me it seems like it just started. I’ll be back next week with some new beauty reviews. In the meantime by popular request I’ve put together a roundup of my favorite sunglasses! I’m sharing the styles and colors I wear the most frequently from Ray-Ban, Tom Ford and Celine. Finding a pair that fits my face size and shape is tricky – most aviators don’t fit well and I still haven’t found a cute pair of oversized sunglasses that are flattering (but they seem to look cute on everyone else!). Here are my Top 7 favorites with style code and color names so you can find the exact same pair in case you’ve seen something you liked on my Instagram stories @beautylookbook.
I bought these in Miami last year at the Celine store and they were quite the splurge but I love them! I had normally gravitated towards brown or lighter pink sunglasses but love how the black color goes with everything. They are round and very sturdy but the lens is flat (while most of the styles I have are slightly curved). I haven’t had any issues with scratches or stretching but I keep these in the case at all times I’m not using them.
Other details above: Top, at the Salty Donut in Miami wearing a tank from Re/Done. Bottom, poolside wearing a Tory Burch Costa Bandeau, older color, similar here
This pair was one of my more trendy purchases. The Celine sales associate recommended this style for my face shape but I didn’t buy them until a year later when I had some Nordstrom notes from points saved up and ordered them from Nordstrom. I love them! I feel like Celine makes really sturdy sunglasses with some weight which makes them feel more luxurious to me. They also make this style in a non-polarized version but in different color variations.
I had these on my wishlist for many many months. I was lucky and found these on sale early in the spring when a number of retailers were marking things down 25% or 30% off site-wide. I saved over $100 off and was thrilled. The size is perfect for me!
I ordered these from Shopbop for the color and love how neutral and versatile they are. The 51mm lens is smaller in width than some of my other styles but still works for my face shape and size. They also make this color in the 53mm Phantos style if you prefer a wider lens.
Other details: Hamptons Sun Hat from Eric Javits in Black, Swimsuit Beachbunny, Lip Oil in Primal Instinct from NARS.
This is a smaller version of their WayfarerII with a 52mm lens versus the regular 55mm lens. For size, I think both sizes work but I have a slight preference for the wider ones because they cover more of the face and give more shade to the eyes. Larger ones shown if you scroll down to the last photo at the bottom. For the type of lens I don’t have a preference for polarized vs non-polarized lenses and have a mix of both options. I do notice there is a stronger contrast and sharpness in color to what I see with polarized lenses although they tend to be more expensive than regular ones.
This is the style and color I get asked the most about. I think you girls love the brownish/red color of the frames! Anytime I wear them so many of you send messages asking for the style number. I like the shape and style because it’s more round versus rectangular. The color of the lens is almost a happy kind of color when you look through them. As usual with Ray-ban this is also available in a polarized option. If you are looking online and notice prices are different with a certain style – check to see if you’re looking at a polarized option (they tend to be priced a little higher).
These are my most-worn sunglasses. I feel like the polarized version isn’t widely available (except for Ray-ban) but you can still find this in the non-polarized option in a wide range of colors (non-polarized option is also less expensive).
____________
Hope you found this roundup helpful! For me my favorites are from Ray-Ban for the price, quality and classic styles. I do own a few older designer styles from Chanel and Gucci but find I don’t wear them as much anymore and in recent years haven’t really looked into the newer options. If you have any favorites please let me know in the comments! I’m still in search for aviators that work for me – I had a couple of Marc Jacobs rimless options years ago but have worn them so much they are pretty scratched up now and I can’t wear them anymore.
